signal is an audio-visual experiment exploring feelings I've been having around the decay of digital imagery's aura.

coined by Walter Benjamin in his 1935 essay "Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction,” an artwork's aura is its unique presence rooted in its originality, history, ritual context, and physical location. 

recently performed at @monistudionyc, the show uses synthetic "found footage" as a starting point, which I erode and rework live through VDMX until only traces remain.

the result is impressionistic and unstable, closer to feeling than representation.
