Jake Oleson is a film director and electronic musician based in Brooklyn. After an 8 year career making emotionally-resonant films in documentary, advertising and narrative contexts, Jake has recently embraced electronic music production, melding it with his film work in pursuit of a more immersive form of artistic communication. His fascination with identity, the nature of reality and consciousness led him to experiment with AI tools like Neural Radiance Fields (or NeRFs) for his projects which have gone on to win awards at festivals like Runway’s AI FIlm Festival and establish new benchmarks for NeRF application in film. Jake recently performed a live audio-visual rendition of his NeRF film, “Given Again” at SIGGRAPH, the premier conference for computer graphics and industry innovation. Driven by a vision to combine cinema’s ability to shape our perception with emergent media, Jake aims to create stirring audio-visual experiences that resonate deeply with audiences. Jake has directed campaigns for brands such as Airbnb, Facebook, P&G, Gatorade, created NeRF films for artists like RL Grime and Zayn Malik and has garnered numerous Vimeo Staff Picks and awards.
